Having a great time this week photographing children for Precious time at Pottery Barn Kids. What change of pace!!! So sorry to all of you out there wanting something from me this week I am trying really hard to get it all done!!
I do have a new person whom I will be announcing soon that might be working with me much much more. I cannot wait to get a great picture of her, since she too is a model and as soon as I am done photographing her, She and Timberly will be my little modeling agency. I of course will stay on the other side of the camera where God has intended for me to stay!!!
She has been an incredible blessing to me!!! (so has been Timberly) Hopefully for all of you out there frustrated with my work flow and production rate, will no longer be frustrated when she is officially helping me! My business is growing fast and I am really trying to keep up with the best of my abilities, But please remember that it is just me here at this time wearing all the hats:)
Soon it will be three, but as for now, it is just me!!
Plus, I have to thank Nicole! You ROCK! you are the most amazing baby sitter on the planet. I know that God has love for me just because, if nothing else, that you came into our lives!!! I cannot believe that L came home with a craft!!! You and little D are from heaven.
For this reason I am now Able to announce that on Tues and Thurs I will now be able to accept Clients. Things are getting full, for Christmas and Christmas Cards, cause As you know, I make a mean card.
November is getting full, but I do have a few more dates available. And since I only have one day off until November 1st, I am taking a much needed two weeks off in November to be with my munchkins for the HOlidays, and maybe even drive to MI for a little Thanksgiving.
This is a message to everyone who has asked this week about my fees and for any certain misunderstandings or misinterpretations out there:
The answer is: high resolution files are so valuable to me and are worth at least $150.00 each.
As much as at least one medium enlargement size or greater.
So, you ask, why so many offered in your sitting fee? The numbers just don't add up!!!!
So I think about the answer and this is what I can honestly say:
Each high resolution file that any photographer owns whether it be personal or professional is valuable. But once it is gone, it is gone and looses its ability to be a valuable asset to him or her. That photographer can no longer gain from the images anymore. Gaining from their images is how a photographer actually makes a living.
Most photographers either under value their work and time incredibly or try to to the best of their ability and to the market value, value their work appropriately to how valuable they feel their time, skill, and many years of education are to them.
The reason I have decided to offer a high resolution images as a part of the sitting fee, with the first 25 images high res included, instead of charging extra for each image, is to solely to benefit both my clients and my own ability to be with my family, not to gain anything financially.
It serves four purposes:
1. to give my clients the benefit of printing as many images as they need or want up to an 11 x 14 for as many times as they wish.
2. it gives me time with my family and more time to photograph more sessions each week (less time on the computer with ordering til wee hours in the morning). And for now, with raising two small children, this is a great fit. Plus trying to volunteer half of my time to T.R.M.L.P. time is so valuable!!!
3. It frees up my clients from having to pay so much for each 8 x 10 or 5 x 7 and re-prints, so that they can feel free to schedule more sessions per year. Their Children are beautiful and growing so very fast, this is important!!!
4. All this in turn allows me to get to know my clients better, and the children I photograph begin to trust me and become more relaxed and themselves around me. So, it is a great thing in the long run for everyone and the lifestyle portraits I create.
(I might loose financially in the beginning, and other photographers might not understand, but I gain so much more in the long run. I gain friends, life long clients, and a fulfilled life in totally knowing that I am doing what I was meant for) My clients also gain total control in their printing process and or using the photos digitally.
I really hope that is helpful in answering the questions about the digital files and my sitting fee!
Please stay tuned for many more images to come!!!!
